Just in: After the first night of preview performances of I Need That, it was announced that the limited-time engagement has been extended. Originally, the run was set to end on the 5th of November. However, it has now been announced that I Need That will run at the American Airlines Theatre in New York (227 W. 42nd St, New York, NY) until the 30th of December, 2023.

Synopsis: Sam (Danny DeVito) doesn’t get out much. Actually, he doesn’t get out at all, opting instead for the safety of his house in the company of his things—his many, many things. But when a notice from the government arrives alerting Sam that he must clean up his property or face eviction, he’s forced to reckon with what’s trash, what’s treasure, and whether we can ever know the difference between the two.

Theresa Rebeck: The talented playwright behind ‘I Need That’ is an artist you can’t miss. At the moment, she’s directing two of her own work – ‘Dig’ and ‘I Need That.’ “A play is like a license to explore things that my curiosity is really piqued by. I have a lot of curiosity,” she once said. “I have a lot of things on my mind and a lot of curiosity.” As of writing, she has had 21 professional productions in New York, five of the on Broadway. She’s easily the most-produced female playwright of her generation on Broadway, with lots more under her belt.
Danny DeVito broke into a successful film career sfter his early Martini role in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” He graced the big screen in “Terms of Endearment” (1983), starred alongside Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in the adventure “Romancing the Stone” (1984) and its sequel, “The Jewel of the Nile” (1985). DeVito also shone in “Ruthless People” (1986), made his directorial debut with “Throw Momma from the Train” (1987), and directed and acted alongside Douglas and Turner again in “The War of the Roses” (1989).
In 2012, he made his West End acting debut in a revival of the Neil Simon play ‘The Sunshine Boys.’ This was followed by his Broadway debut in 2017 at Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of the Arthur Miller play ‘The Price.’ He aced his role as Gregory Solomon, and went on to be nominated for a Tony Award.
